The Owner of Paris Saint Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi who also doubles as the general manager of beIN SPORTS is under investigations by the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office.
He goes under the microscope with banned Jérome Vacke, former secretary-general of Media Rights FIFA World Cups.
The duo are under the scrutiny for alleged connection to the granting of broadcast rights of the FIFA World Cup and also some under irregular activities deemed to be corrupt and malpractices tantamount to bribery.
The investigation, which was opened on March 20 for “suspicion of private corruption, fraud, unfair administration and counterfeiting”, is being carried out in several countries, including Spain.
The former General Secretary is suspected of accepting bribes which influenced him in his work of granting television rights in some countries related to upcoming FIFA World Cup Tournaments from 2018 to 2030.
The process, initiated in 2017, is directed from Switzerland and has the collaboration of the authorities of France, Greece, Italy and Spain, where simultaneous searches have been carried out and in different places.
He has been banned from football related matters but is seeking alternations from the Court of Arbitration of Sports.
Al-Khelaifi has provided some improvement to French side Paris Saint Germain since he took over the ownership. His recent purchased of Brazilian star Neymar from FC Barcelona has also raised some eye brows as the big clubs in Europe feel their financial sources are not football related.
