Spokesman for the Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Sannie Daara has refuted claims by Mr. Winfred Osei Kwaku Palmer that referees are induced by the GFA for officiating favors.
Osei Kwaku Palmer,Executive Committee member and owner of relegation threatened side Tema Youth who also holds the position as the Vice Chairman for the Management Committee of the Black Stars,Head of Finance for the GFA,leading member of the media committee of the FA and an EXCO member is reported to have said on Accra based Citi FM that the FA did not induced ref.Daniel Bennett in their World Cup qualifier against Uganda as done in time passed,which caused Bennett to deny the Black Stars their ‘clean goal’ scored.
Sannie Daara on the FA’s alleged referees inducement told happy sports “Ghana since the times of Nkrumah has never induce or bribe a referee for officiating fairness and has never flout the law as far as inducement is concern”
“Automatically every referee appointed to handle a game is expected to be fair,so when it turns the other way round, he can be taken on,which we did by reporting Bennett to FIFA to handle the case their own way,which they did as he ended up being punished by not allowing him to officiate in last week’s CAF Champions League games haven’t been tagged one of African’s best referee presently” Sannie added.
Speaking on the punishment to be apportioned to Palmer as he has put the GFA to disrepute pointed “within and among ourselves we talk,and as human beings we are not perfect and are full of mistakes,myself a times even go contrary to the FA’s laws and ethics to be prompted to go back and correct myself, but to this issue l can’t tell weather he will be punished or not and don’t know how far this can go”.
Ghana has a last match to play against Egypt in Kumasi in the first weekend of November but the Pharoahs have already qualified and the two would only be competing on academic purposes.
