OPOKU WARE SCHOOL AND KUMASI GIRLS SET TO DEFEND TITLES FOR BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL COMPETITION RESPECTIVELY

Opoku Ware School (Owass) the winners of the last two editions of the the Inter-schools basketball competition in the Ashanti Region will start their title defense this weekend. Kumasi Girls who also won the girls competition would also have to work harder to retain their trophy.

Owass who went on to win the National Basketball trophy (Sprite Ball) last year will begin their defense at home when they host other seven schools in the Boys category and eight schools in the girls category battle for the Bragging rights as Champions of the Ashanti Region and the sole right to represent the Ashanti Region in the National Spriteball Championship in Accra.

It was a battle fit for the gods in last year’s final when Opoku Ware School managed to overcome arch rivals Prempeh College in a tight final and proceeded to win the National Sprite ball Championship as well to crown a beautiful year of wonderful achievement.

The competition comes off on Friday, November 3 at Opoku Ware School.

Prempeh will take on Islamic, Owass takes on TOSS while KUHIS will battle Amass-Kumasi. KASS will battle Armed Forces in the first round.
