The Captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Amos Frimpong has made some revelations about his career and that of the club.
He was on Metro FM on Tuesday morning to give account of his career and how he also led the Porcupine Warriors to win the 2017 MTN FA Cup.
“I got the name Olomo from a man,he was a footballer and I always cry to follow him to the field”
“My mother wanted school over football,but my father wanted the football to school-there were a lot of confusion at home”
“My football career started at Ahenema FC to Kotoko u-20 through David Kyei.From Kass Mr.David Kyei took me to B.A United in all this my mum was not in support”
At BA United
“I was treated fairly at B.A United ”
“I started as a central defender; number 4 to be precised,and also good at the number 6 position”
“My first game at B.A United was against Bofoakwa,a very wonderful feeling and with God so good we won 2-0 courtesy of Osei Pele which I gave 2 assists,since then sunyani became my home,I spent 2 seasons at B.A United”
“Senior players were given 10 cedis often and we the new players were not given anything”
“My first salary at B.A United at the premier was 100 cedis,I bought rice cooker with the some of my salary”
“Wilberforce Nfum informed me “Amos are you ready to play for Kotoko?I said am ever ready,I told Mr David Kyei right after the call”
“I was happy meeting Kotoko representatives for the first time because it was always my dream to play for Kotoko”
“I went to Dr.K.K Sarpong at the secretariat and signed 3 years contract”
“I had receive a lot of offers from other clubs ..Medeama,Berekum Chelsea and even my card got to Berekum Chelsea,It would have been disappointing if I couldn’t have played for Kotoko”
“My first day at training I met my old friends Nii Adjei and Yaw Frimpong so I wasn’t nervous” Amos said.
