The five African countries who will be defending the continent at the 2018 FIFA World Cup now know their fate and path after the draw was held in Russia the host country.
Africa’s most decorated football nation, Egypt will face host Nation Russia in Group A. The Pharaohs are returning to the mundial after 27 years absence. Morocco who last qualified for the 1998 World Cup are also placed in Group B as they battle it out with European giants Portugal and Spain.
In Group D, Nigeria who bears Africa’s biggest hope, are found with their good old pals Argentina. The Super Green Eagles beat the Argentines 4-2 in a friendly recently played in Krasnodor. Lethal play maker, Lionel Messi did not feature in the said friendly. This will be the fourth time Nigeria meet Argentina in a World Cup group; they have been in the same group in 1994, 2002 and 2010.
Tunisia will also have to sort themselves in Group G with England and Belgium. West African power house Senegal are also placed in the last group, H which constitutes Columbia, Japan and Poland.
