UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE : SPANISH TEAMS FACE TRICKY DUELS IN KNOCKOUT PARINGS

The Spanish representatives in the UEFA Champions League 2017/18 would have to produce their best in the knockout stages.

Defending Champions Real Madrid would have to deal with French champions Paris St. Germain. With the presence of the Brazilian contingent led by Neymar, it will be an intriguing game as PSG are seen as the best club currently in Europe. But with Cristiano Ronaldo at his best, it will not be a push over for PSG.

Another cracker not to miss is Chelsea drawing former Champions FC Barcelona. The two sides have some scores as they have met fifteen times, five wins for  each side and five draws. The Catalan club seem to be enjoying some good streak as they are yet to loose a game in the current season. Chelsea are not likely defend their Premier League title as they lie 14 points adrift of Manchester City who are on top of the league table. Please do not forget Andres Iniesta who broke the hearts of Chelsea fans in 2009 is still around though not having the same form he exhibited then.

Sevilla CF who have been inconsistent in the season’s Champions League will also face 2008 Champions Manchester United. The Red Devils of England have the advantage because Sevilla seem not to be giving opponents the kind of scare their 5 times Europa League wins brings and also the fear Madrid and Barcelona give to opponents.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will enjoy a relatively low opposition in the shape of FC Basel. With the current form, they will not have much difficulty to go through to the quarter finals.

Another tricky duel will be for Tottenham Hotspurs as they face Italian giants Juventus. Spurs proved their readiness for Europe when they beat defending champions Real Madrid in the group game played at Wembley. But Juventus who have lost two finals in three seasons will not be easy to deal with as they bring to the table some experience players in the competition.
