Medeama FC is set to replace WAFA in the up coming GHALCA Top as the latter have officially pulled out of the tournament.
According to the Chairman of GHALCA, Mr. Kodjo Fiano the Sogakopke based club said in their letter that the cannot raise a good team for the competition because most of their players are on national assignment.
” WAFA has officially written to us that they will not compete in this year’s G8 tournament because most of their players are in the national camp. Mr Fiano said.
“We want the clubs to take the competition very serious as its the only competition that will prepare them for the season and especially those participating in Africa.” He added.
The Chief Executive Officer for Ash Gold explained further that, “It will also help the division one clubs who have just been promoted to know how to compete in the premier league when the season starts”.
Medeama FC who placed 7th in the just ended league is due to replace WAFA in the Top 8 Competition.
WAFA were placed in Group B after the draw on Thursday. The tournament will start on 6th January and is expected to end in the last week of the said month.
