During a visit to South Africa, Cameroon legend Samel Eto’o says he would like to see a local coach leading the Indomitable Lions.

The former Barcelona and Chelsea forward was speaking to AfricanFootball.com on Thursday regarding the new coach of the African champions.

With the future of Hugo Broos remaining a subject of controversy with the country’s football federation FECAFOOT, the team remains coachless so far.

However, the current Antalyaspor player in Turkey said he would like to see former African players taking charge of their national teams.

A perfect example is the former Senegalese international, Aliou Cisse who is leading the Lions of Teranga to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in June this year.

“Africa has to believe in African people, African boys and many of them retire to go to school and train as coaches. Cisse is a good man and has done well to lead the side to the World Cup,” said Eto’o to AfricanFootball.com.

“This is not an opinion of the FECAFOOT, but mine, I think we can do better with local coaches.

“I believe it is good to hand the legends an opportunity to coach our national teams.

“I want to us to believe in African talent.”

Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions are set to participate at the 2018 CAF African Nations Championship in Morocco under the guidance of former defender Rigobert Song.
