The Manhyia Palace in Kumasi was filled with some boxing aroma when the recently crowned WBO Interim Super Bantamweight champion, Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe paid a courtesy call on the King of the Asante Kin, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Opimsuo Osei Tutu was celebrating the first Akwasidae of the year 2018 at the Manhyia Palace on Sunday and was privileged to welcome Dogbe to the festival.
The objective of the special visit by Dogbe and his camp was to afford the 23 year old Ghanaian boxer the opportunity to present the Championship belt he won over his Mexican Opponent, Cesar Juarez to Otumfuo and to ask the King to bless him for his future bouts as he seeks to become Ghana’s next World Boxing Champion after great like Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and Joshua Clottey.
Royal Storm, also paid a similar visit to the Akwamuhene,Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III who also conferred Dogbe with the title, ‘Okofo’.
The undefeated boxer took the time to pay a courtesy call on the overlord of Akwamuman at the Bogyawe Palace to present to him his latest title.
Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III was pleased with the efforts of the 23-year-old boxer and elected to confer on him the title of “Okofo’, which translates as “fighter”.
Dogboe recently won the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title following his fifth-round knockout victory over Mexico’s Cesar Juarez and is billed to fight American Jese Magdeleno for the WBO Bantamweight title in March 2018.
Dogboe holds a flawless record of 18 fights, with no draws or loses and 11 of his wins coming by way of knockout.
