Brong Ahafo based club, Aduna Stars are now the Champions of Ghana’s 2018 Super Cup Competition after they piped Kumasi Asante Kotoko 1-0.
The Super Cup is the official opening match between the winners of the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup.
Bright Adjei scored the only goal of the match in the 64th minute to ensure Aduana took the giant trophy to Dormaa.
Coach Yusif Abubakur’s side had been whipped by the Porcupine Warriors to end their campaign in the 2018 GHALCA G8 tournament but that did not worry the Dormaa based club as they silenced them on Sunday at the Len Clay stadium to compensate their fans as the team prepares for its CAF champions league campaign next month.
It was a game that saw Aduana Stars dominate play throughout stipulated time but failed to punish Kotoko on many occasions until Bright Adjei broke the virginity of the game on the 62nd minute with a fine strike.
Asante Kotoko having held the premier champions to a goalless draw after half time did not work enough after recess to get them an equalizer despite coming to close to scoring in the closing stage of the crunchy match.
The Star Times Gala Competition will also take place on Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th February respectively before the start of the 2018 Premier league.
Aduana and Kotoko will both represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation’s Cup.
