ZAMALEKE COACH EHAB GALAL IS CONFIDENT HIS SIDE WILL QUALIFY AHEAD OF DICHA IN THE CAF CONFEDERATIONS CUP

The 2018 CAF Confederation Cup’s First Round returns this weekend with 14 first-leg games on Saturday and Sunday.

Egyptian giants Zamalek will try to overturn the shocking 2-1 first leg loss when they play hosts to Ethiopia’s debutants Wolaitta Dicha on Sunday in Suez, about 140-kilometres from the capital Cairo.

Dicha stunned the five-time African champions when the two sides faced off in Hawassa last week. The Ethiopian Cup holders took the lead through Bezabih Melayu after 16 minutes, only for Zamalek’s Emad Fathy to equalize twenty minutes later. But Yared Dawit scored 13 minutes from time to give Dicha who are having their maiden continental appearance a historic win over seasonal campaigners Zamalek.

However, the White Knights appear confident of turning the tables in Suez and qualify to the next round. Coach Ehab Galal, who had his first CAF game with Zamalek having only led the team since January, said the first leg result is acceptable.

“Looking at the circumstances, I believe the first leg result is a good one for us,” Galal told the media.

“We were the better side in the second half and missed many chances. Dicha had a one chance and they scored the winner via that opportunity”.

Tunisian giants Club Africain will host Moroccan side RSB Berkane at the Stade Olympique de Radès in Radès on Saturday. Berkane won 3-1 in the first-leg clash.

Egyptian outfit Al Masry will face off with Tanzanian giants Simba at the Al-Masry Club Stadium in Port Said on Saturday. The two teams drew 2-2 in the first-leg match.

On Sunday, Nigerian side Akwa United will welcome Libyan outfit Al-Ittihad Tripoli at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo won 1-0 in the first-leg.

Cape Town City of South Africa will take on Mozambican club Costa Do Sol at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday. City won 1-0 in the first-leg encounter.
