EIGHT PLAYERS AND TWO OFFICIALS OF GHANA’S PARA BADMINTON TEAM ARRIVE IN UGANDA FOR TRAINING

Eight Para badminton players –  four men and four women, accompanied by two officials left Accra on Friday for Uganda to participate in an international training programme and tournaments from 21st April to 5th May, 2018.

The program is aimed at preparing athletes from the Africa continent towards qualification and participation in the Tokyo 2020 paralympic games.

The programme is being organized under the auspices of the Agitos Foundation of IPC, Badminton world federation (BWF) and Uganda badminton association.

The two officials will also participate in administrative and technical training workshops to be conducted within the period.

The eight players are :
Felix Acheampong
Kofi Acheampong
Mohammed Azumah Salih
Bismarck Kyei

Women
Issah Zinabu
Naomi Sarpong
Akosua Nkansah
Safia Furkan.

Interestingly, all the players are from the Ashanti Region, coincidentally where the development of badminton in Ghana started in the early 1960s.

The team departs and returns to Ghana on 20th April and 6th May respectively.

The officials:
Secretary General (Ignatius Elletey) and Coach (George Philip Baah).
