Preview : GROUP C KICKOFFS WITH SUNDOWNS- WYDAD CLASH IN PRETORIA

Mamelodi Sundowns are at home as they get their CAF Champions League, Group C stage assignment underway against champions Wydad Casablanca.

The meeting set for Saturday night in Pretoria sees the 2016 champions facing the reigning champions in what is seen as a grudge match.

The Lucas Moripe Stadium will be the stage for the encounter at 19:00 (GMT) on Saturday night.

Sundowns lost out on the semi-final spot last season as they suffered an aggregate loss to the Moroccans giants.

In their previous matches, Sundowns faced Rwanda’s Rayon Sports in the first round and drew 0-0 away in Kigali, but bagged a comfortable 2-0 win at home in the second leg.

A look at the visitors, they secured a spot in the group stages by beating Williamsville 7-4 on aggregate over a two-legged encounter.

Wydad secured a 7-2 win at home in Morocco, but succumbed to a 2-0 loss away in Abidjan to the Cote d’Ivoire side.

West African Meeting

Togolese side AS Togo-Port will be hoping to start their Group C campaign with a win when they host AC Horoya on Saturday in the CAF Champions League.

Togo-Port booked a spot in the group stages after securing a win on aggregate over Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan.

The first round opening leg saw them winning 2-0 at home but lost 3-1 away in Omdurman, which saw them progress on the away goals rule after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.

On the part of Horoya, the Conakry-based club in Guinea will want to continue with their pleasing run so far in the tournament.

They are fresh from overcoming Senegal’s Generation Foot over two legs in the previous stage as they conceded once.

A 2-1 win at home and a 2-0 victory away at Leopold Senghor Stadium in Dakar saw them securing their group stage berth.

This clash will be played on Saturday, May 05 at 16:00 (GMT) at the Stade Général Eyadema in Lomé.
