Ghana’s Black Satellites have made it to the final qualifying round of 2019 U-20 Africa cup of Nations after beating Algeria 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Cape Coast stadium.
The three-time champions of Africa’s Youth Tournament advanced on a 2-0 aggregate following a 0-0 away draw in Algiers last week. Mohammed Kudus and Sadiq Ibrahim scored as the Ghanaians defeated their Algerian counterparts in the second leg of the Africa Youth Championship qualifiers.
Mohammed Kudus put Ghana ahead after 39 minutes when he shot a thunder- bolt from the edge of the box.
The goal looked to have unsettled the Algerians who opened up in the second half to get the equalizer. Two minutes after the second half resumed, winger Ibrahim Sadiq doubled the lead with a brilliant solo run before calmly slotting home.
both scorers for the Satellites were part of Ghana’s U-17 World Cup campaign in India 2017.
The result proved vital as the former Champions made it to the final round of qualifiers.
Ghana continued to carve out at chances at will but could not add any more to their tally. Black Satellites will face Benin for a place at the final tournament scheduled for 2-17 February in Niger.
