News which has engulfed Ghana right now has it that President of the State, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has ordered the CID of Ghana POlice Service to arrest the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi for defrauding under false pretence.
This is as a result of the reported Anas video on corruption with the Football arena which is to be aired on June 6.
The arrest was confirmed by the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Mr. Abu Jinapor at a press briefing in Accra this afternoon.
Mr Abu Jinapor is quoted in the following ;
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the media, as we aware, Tiger Eye through its celebrated investigative journalist, Anas Aremyaw Anas is advertised a documentary that is due to be aired into the affairs of the Ghana Football Association. The President of the Republic has had the privilege of viewing aspects of this tape and in the documentary the GFA President is supposedly seen using the name of the President and his vice and other senior officials of government to induce supposed potential investors into this country to part with various sums of monies.”
He continued that “The President has a responsible citizen and the chief custodian of our laws has had to consult and evaluate the content of this investigative piece. The President after these consultations is fully satisfied that a “primal faces” bases has been established that a criminal investigations be launched into the conduct of the President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi and any other accomplices that may exist and therefore the President is reported this matter to the legally sanctioned and mandated agencies of State; the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service to commence investigations into this matter.”
“I can confirm that the the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has since launched investigations into this matter and if I may be specific in aspects of the crime of defrauding under false pretences, the investigations is ongoing”. He continued.
Mr. Jinapor noted that, “we want to assure the Ghanaian People that the President is determined to fight crime,corruption, influence peddling and instill discipline, integrity and honesty into our public life. It will not matter your status in society and this is exactly what we have seen playing out in respect of the GFA matter”.
“We will entreat country men and women to be calm and allow the legally mandated security services to conduct their investigations and conclude those investigations. And let me finally that that add the President is absoultely determined that anybody who is found culpable would be made to face the full rigors of the laws of our country”, Jinapor concluded.
