Egyptian Football Association uncovered the allocated shirt numbers for the squad that will take part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Head coach Hector Cuper has announced on Monday his final 23-man squad that will travel to Russia, surprisingly excluding SC Braga forward Ahmed Hassan Kouka.

The Argentinian manager decided to drop Ismaily keeper Mohamed Awaad from the squad in favour of Al Ahly duo Sherif Ekramy and Mohamed El-Shennawy, and veteran Essam El-Hadary.

In addition, Orlando City’s Amro Tarek, Zamalek’s Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, Al Masry forward Ahmed Gomaa, and Karim Hafez of RC Lens also didn’t make the cut.

Team star Mohamed Salah, who was recently declared fit for the tournament, despite not featuring in any pre-World Cup friendly until now, retained his number 10. Arsenal’s Elneny and team playmaker Abdallah El-Said also retained numbers 17 and 19 respectively.

Egypt were drawn in group A alongside hosts Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay. They will kick off their group stage games on June 15, before facing Russia and Saudi Arabia on June 19 and June 25.
