FC Barcelona have announced the signing of Chilean midfield dynamo, Arturo Erasmus Vidal Pardo from FC Bayern Munchen.
Vidal was asked to move to the Catalan capital on Friday for his medicals after talks between the two sides came to a fruitful point. The deal was reportedly worth 19 million euros, plus variables.
Arturo Vidal completed his move after he was presented on Monday. The Chilean midfielder will remain at Barcelona for the next three seasons. He is the third of three signings so far for the Blaugrana; Arthur Melo and fellow Brazilian Malcom were recently signed by Barcelona for the first team.
Barcelona allowed Paulinho to return to his former club in China and Vidal is expected to fill that void. He is also expected to bring his years of experience to bare as Barcelona seek to reclaim the lost glory in Europe.
During his presentation, ‘King Arturo’ said “very happy to be joining Barça, the best team in the world.” He added that he hopes to “help the coach to get the side working in the best possible way.”
“I hope to help Messi and the team to overcome every challenge”
The new signing explained that he feels in good shape physically and has had the time necessary to recover from any previous issues. He has already undertaken a month of preseason training sessions with his former club.
“I’ve come here to bring a lot of energy onto the pitch,” said Vidal, who acknowledged that he has some unfinished business in the Champions League to attend to at Barça.
“Joining Barça is a step up for me. I will work hard to bring joy to the FC Barcelona fans,” he concluded.
Talking about the latest arrival at the Camp Nou, Abidal said that Vidal is “a player with character, who gives balance on the pitch as well as providing goals and chances.”
