Owass fail to maintain record as Amass win Ashanti Inter Schools Football Competition

Opoku Ware School failed to beat TI Amass for the third time in the Ashanti Regional Inter Schools Football Competition. Amass won the final 4-3 on penalties to lift the trophy.

Amass had previously lost two finals to the Owareans in 1989 and 1998. But this time round, they were more determined to win the cup.

Owass started the game very well by creating some dangerous chances but failed to capitalize. Amass took over in the last quarter of the first half but also failed to  scored the first goal.

The Phobians of Amass came into the second half as a better team and dictated the pace of the game.

Owass then overturned the tables by scoring the first goal from the spot. The Amass defence failed to deal with an in-swinger, the  striker for Owass was fouled in box resulting in the penalty which was converted calmly for the first goal of the game.

Amass came in strongly after going down and started pinning Owass to their own half. As a result of the constant pressure from Amass, the Owareans committed several infringements in their area.

The Owass goalkeeper failed to deal with one of the freekicks which was headed home by an Amass player to make the scores 1-1.

Amass scored all of their 4 penalties with Owass scoring 3 from all 5 kicks.

Before the final, Islamic SHS beat Asanteman 5-4 on penalties to win the 3rd place match.
