Ghana’s U-23 side Black Meteors demolished their Togolese counterparts 5-1 in the qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games.
The first leg of the qualification games for the CAF Zone was played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Sensational striker Kwabena Owusu gave the Meteors great hope when he scored a hat-trick. Osman Bukari and Nassam Yakubu also registered a goal respectively to cap the great evening for Ghana.
The first was not good for the Meteors as they gave a shambolic performance. The Togolese side were very tactical as they defended more than attacking.
Owusu scored first for Ghana on the 18th minute and it was cancelled by Togolese Thobault Klidji from a dead ball situation on the 31st minute.
The Ghanaians came into the second half better organised. The attacking lines with looking more potent and sharper. Coach Ibrahim Tanko pulled out Micheal Ampadu for Eric Owusu paid off as the Ghanaian defense became stable.
Ghana then hammered Togo from the consistent attacks after the danger man Klidji was pulled out. The striker had some challenges from Eric Owusu so could not be of any reasonable importance in the second half.
Ghana will face Togo in the second leg in Lome in 10 days time.
