Thomas PARTEY wins Sports Personality of the Year

Black Stars midfielder, Thomas Teye part was awarded the Sports Personality of the year 2018 during the awards ceremony by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).

The awards ceremony was held on Saturday |May 11, 2019 at the Accra International Conference Centre. The Executive Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, TOGBE Afedzi who also doubles as the President of the national house of chiefs was the special guest of honour.

In attendance was the Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Isaac Kwame Asiamah and the United States of America’s Ambassador to Ghana.

Sports Men and Women in the various disciplines were awarded for their excellence in their respective fields of sports.

Sensational boxer, Richard COMMEY was voted for as the best male boxer.

Partey also was also voted as the footballer of the year after he won the UEFA Europa League with his club, Atletico Madrid.

Mukarama ABDULAI who also plays for the |Black Queens of Ghana was voted as the best female footballer.

Hockey Player of Year (Female) – Mavis Boatemaa Berko

Hockey Player of the Year (Male) – Emmanuel Ankomah

Rugby Player of the Year (Female) – Rafatu Inusah

Presidential Award – Joe Lartey Snr.
