Coach of Ghana’s Senior National Team, Katakyie James Kwasi Appiah has placed emphasis on team unity as main strength ahead of the Benin clash in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The former national team captain spoke to the media ahead of the Group F second game clash in Ismailia on Tuesday. Stars winger Christian Atsu was also present at the press conference.
The Black Stars will take on the Squirrels of Benin at the Ismailia Stadium at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Coach Kwasi Appiah explained that he has not seen this kind of camping in his entire stint with the national team before, thus the best ever.
Captaincy is nothing. The most important thing is to have unity in camp and I think this is the best camp I have ever witnessed in my 6 or 8 camps with the national team”, Kwasi Appiah explained.
He went on to confirm that the signs are positive as the players themselves have the self believe that it’s time for Ghana to with the fifth AFCON trophy.
Ghana last won the trophy in 1982. But have played in three different finals but lost.
They lost to Ivory Coast in 1992 and 2015 but in between losing to their West African neighbours, they also lost to Egypt in 2010.
