Kotoko and Hearts lock horns in President’s Cup

Kumasi will witness another titanic clash when Accra Hearts of Oak take on Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the 2019 President Cup.

The match will kick off at 15:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, 8th September,2019.

This will be the fourth time in five years that the two sides lock horns in the President’s Cup.

With it inception in 2003, Kotoko are currently the record holder with five wins in the President’s Cup with Hearts of Oak winning four.

This will serve as a preparatory match for Kotoko who are preparing to face Etoile du Sahel in the CAF Champions League Preliminary stage next week.

The Porcupine Warriors lost to Obuasi Ashgold 4-3 on penalties in the BK Edusie Cup played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last week.

Hearts of Oak are on a rebuilding project with coach Kim Grant and his lads playing friendly matches to improve team work and conditioning. they have won three of their last four friendly matches.

The last three meetings between the two rivals in the President’s Cup have been won on penalties with Kotoko winning twice and Hearts once.

Ashgold won the trophy in 2018 as Hearts last won it in 2015 and Kotoko in 2017.
