The Blaugrana have not won there since 2007 and that is because of mistakes which they have made time and time again
Since 2007 Anoeta has given Barcelona a sensation of Groundhog Day. Despite Luis Enrique saying he doesn’t care about past results, the truth is that year after year the club make the same mistakes there. They have one point from the last 18 in play there. Here are the errors they need to stop making…
TOO MANY ROTATIONS
Luis Enrique knows he cannot play games in Anoeta. So for that reason he will pick Neymar, despite the Brazilian being one card away from a ban which would stop him playing in the Clasico. Last season he played Rafinha, who came from seven months of inactivity and Arda Turan, who was not fitting in the team yet. Along with Munir who played for the suspended Suarez, they could not break down the hosts.
One of la Real’s strong points is their defence. Barça have always had problems getting through. In recent visits they have shuffled the ball side to side without getting in deep.
A direct consequence of their lack of incision means scoring has been problematic. One of the symptoms of that is when Gerard Pique ends up front, trying to play as a No 9.
SHIPPING EARLY GOALS
Although the first to score doesn’t always take the points, in recent visits Barcelona have let in early goals against la Real and ended up losing. They have to go out concentrating from the start to stop a surprise start to the game.
Barcelona would come back the Argentine captain who sat out of the Malaga game because of abdominal problems is back and would lead the Blaugrana el Vent in Anoeta. Lionel who has scored 8 goals in the current season also got Barcelona’s two goals in the game against Celtic away in Scotland in the UEFA Champions League match played on last Wednesday. He is sure to pair up with Luis Suarez who also returns from suspension from the said match. Former Valencia striker, Paco Alcacer who replaced Suarez will sit on the bench for the Uruguayan striker to ensure Barca gets the needed confidence ahead of the El Clasico. Messi and Suarez both have 8 goals and would need to score at least 2 more to catch up with Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo whose two goals helped Madrid dispose off Sporting Gijon yesterday. Brazil striker Neymar Santos Junior is a card away from suspension and must guard against the frustration he has gone through in the past week in order to be in position for the clash with their arch rivals on Saturday.
