GPL Matchweek 5 Preview: Hearts of Oak in to oust Aduana Stars as Kotoko welcomes new entrants Elmina Sharks

The Ghana Premier League enters its matchweek 5 and there are eight interesting games to look.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be at home to newly promoted side, Elmina Sharks at the Baba Yara Stadium as they seek to push for the top. The Porcupines lies joint top of the GPL after four round of games with 10 points and go into the game for nothing than a win. Kotoko’s manager, Dravsko Lugarusic will welcome Kwame Boahene after the ex Medeama player recovered from injury and has full house to choose from except Ollenu Ashitey who suffered a muscle tear at training on Thursday.

Accra Hearts of Oak will make a trip to Dormaa as they play Dormaa Aduana Stars on Sunday. The Phobians have amassed six points from their first four games and are yet to win away from home. Frank Nuttal, coach of Hearts of Oak steered their club to their first victory in the 2017 GPL when they beat champions, Wa All Stars at home last weekend and will like to build upon that when they travel to Dormaa. Aduana Stars on the other hand has amassed 10 points from their previous four games with the only draw coming against the Sogakope based club, West African Football Academy in the last outing. Aduana Stars will like to continue their surge for the GPL trophy s they hope to make it their third consecutive home win for the season.

Champions Wa All Stars will entertain Inter Allies at the Malik Jabir Park in Wa as they seek to record their first win for the season. Due to the Wa based club participation in the CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, they have played two games in the GPL season and have just a point to show for after losing to Hearts of Oak and sharing the spoils with Elmina Sharks on Wednesday. Wa All Stars coach, Enos Adepa will like to reach the standard that saw them claim the GPL trophy last season, starting with Inter Allies.

Gordon Attram’s Great Olympics are in for a survival as they are yet to record their first win of the season after four games. The Accra based club lost 3-1 to Bechem United last Thursday and have picked just a point from four games. Olympics after making a u-turn to the Ghana Premier League will like to make amends as they host West African Football Academy (WAFA) at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Another new entrants, Bolgatanga All Stars will travel to the Tema Park on Sunday to face Tema Youth. The Tema based club rejoined the league after Dreams FC was sent back to the Division One for irregularities in terms of player registration. They will like to record a win as they host the Bolgatanga club on Sunday.

Berekum Chelsea welcome AshantiGold to the Berekum Park on Sunday. The Brong Ahafo based club drew at their last outing and will like to amends at home but must beat Ashgold who lost to Kotoko at the Obuasi Len clay stadium in their previous game. Ashgold coach, Bashir Hayford will like to build upon the 4 points accumulated but must play very well to stand any chance of winning at Berekum.

Bechem United will play host to the Dansoman based club, Liberty Professionals at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Sunday. Bechem United beat Olympics 3-1 on Thursday thanks to a brace from Ivorian, Ahmed Toure and will be willing to build upon that with a win over Liberty.
