Day 7 of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells saw Kei Nishikori, Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem, Jack Sock among others all advancing to the quarter finals.
Kei Nishikori beat American high rising talent, Donald Young 6-2 6-4 to advance to the quarter finals.
There were also wins for Spanish Pablo Carreno Busta and Argentine Pablo Cuevas as both booked their place in the quarter finals at Indian Wells.
17th seed American, Jack Sock eased past Tunisian hotcake, Malek Jaziri 4-6 7-6 (7-1) 7-5.
Three time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka progressed to the quarter finals in an hour and 13 minutes as he beat Yoshihito Nishioka in three sets.
The Swiss won 3-6 6-3 7-6 and will meet Austrian Dominic Thiem who beat French Gael Monfils 6-3 6-2 to reach the quarter finals.
Rafael Nadal lost to 18 time Grand Slam champion, Rodger Federer in straight sets as the Swiss won 6-2 6-3.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic exited at the round of 16 as he was overpowered by 21 year old Australian Nick Krygios in three sets losing 4-6 6-7 (3-7). That was the second time in 12 days the Australian has beaten the World number two after edging past him at Acapulco.
The men’s singles continues with four interesting matches to look at.
In the women’s singles, Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia became the first player to reach the semis. The eight seed beat her follow countrywoman, Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3 6-2 and will meet Czech Republican Karolina Pliskova who came top in the battle between her and French Open champion Garbine Muguruza. Pliskova beat Muguruza 7-6 7-6 to advance.
In the Men’s doubles, Jamie Murray, senior brother of Andy Murray and Brazilian Bruno Soares advanced to the semi finals as they beat Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer and Romania’s Horia Tecau 7-6 (7-5) 6-4.
