Germany has bid one of their greats farewell as they honoured Turksih born German, Lukask Podolski’s in Germany’s 1-0 win over England at Dortmund.

The 31 year old forward joined the Die Manschaft in 2004 and has been a regular since making 130 caps and scoring 49 goals.

He is also a World Cup winner having been part of the German squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Podolski was given a presentation and delivered a speech that delayed the kick-off by several minutes while Germany fans unveiled a celebratory mosaic to a hugely popular figure in this country.

England went close at the Signal Iduna Park on several ocassions as they were denied a first half penalty after Jamie Vardy has run through on goal and brought down by Marc Andre TerStergen in post for the Die Manschaft.

The game was almost ending before the hero on the day, Podolski hit a thunderbolt to score a screamer ensuring it was a momentous night for his farewell.

Germany were flat in the game but won 1-0 thanks to Lukask Podolski who strucked from 25 yards in his farewell game.

Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder, Dele Alli put in a man-of-the-match performance as he was a constant threat to the German defence.

England manager, Gareth Southgate has won all his previous four games in charge but lost at the Signal Iduna in his fifth game in charge of the Three Lions. Despite the defeat, he was positive of his team as they made the defending World champions suffer for their win.
