Egypt manager Hector Cuper said he was left impressed by the performance of the new players who featured in Egypt’s 3-0 win against Togo.
Egypt managed to overcome Togo in an international friendly at Borg El Arab stadium, thanks to goals coming from Mahmoud Kahraba, Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed El-Sheikh, in a match that saw the inclusion of several new faces.
“It was a good game. We were keen on trying some new players with the veterans of the squad and I am very satisfied about the game,” Cuper said in the press conference after the match.
“Players like Sam Morsy, Alexander Jakobsen and Ahmed El-Sheikh did well especially that they didn’t feature for a long period. To choose the perfect lineup and deliver the best performance is a very difficult thing considering that four new players started the game.”
“I was very satisfied with Amro Tarek’s performance during the minutes he featured in. El-Sheikh had a fine game, we are monitoring his development in the league and he has to stay on the same level to remain with the national team,” Cuper concluded.
in another development, Al Ahly striker Amr Gamal has stressed the manager Hector Cuper backs all the players of the national team.
Gamal participated in Egypt’s friendly 3-0 victory over Togo but hasn’t been a regular player in the Pharaohs squad as of late.
“What is important for me is to regain my self confidence. Playing regularly allows me perform better, recently I have been unlucky which have put me under high pressure,” Gamal told ON Sport.
“In the last period I have been only concentrating on training well and was being supported by Cuper.”
“The players, including the new ones, had a good display against Togo. Everybody has to keep supporting the national team to achieve the dream of reaching the World Cup.”
