The Technical Director for Ghana Football Association, Coach Francis Oti Akenteng has asked Ghanaians not to expect any viable results from the newly appointed coach for the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Akwasi Appiah was officially given his new appointed on 4th April,2017 and has been given a two year mandate to reshape the national team.
On Boss FM’s sports programme, Boss Sports One, the former national team trainer said “the Technical Committee will not allow the coach to do things isolated from the outlined programme from the Juvenal to the senior national team as it happened during the time of Avram Grant”.
Asked whether Ghanaians should expect anything better in the ongoing 2018 World Cup qualifiers and 2019 African Cup Nations, Coach Oti Akenteng emphasized that “We should not expect anything special and any viable results from Akwasi Appiah now but till 2021 African Cup of Nations”.
He went on to explain that “the two year contract given to Katakyie Appiah is not enough but he should have been given at least four years as the current developmental plan by the Technical Committee and GFA would not allow him to get such demanding results in the short term”.
Coach Oti then confirmed that Kwasi Appiah would be allowed to choose his backroom staff but with the confirmation from the GFA Executive Committee and Technical Committee.
Akwasi Appiah is expected to begin work in May as he is set to depart his Sudan based Khartoum FC in the coming week.
