The General Secretary of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF), Philippina Frimpong, has rubbished reports that the players that took part in the just ended McDan West Africa championship have not been paid.
According to her, after the championship, all the players received their prizes in cash.
“We gave them cash, the Nigerian girl Sarah Adegoke, i gave the money to her mother in her presence. All the Ghanaian players were all given cash,” She told Takoradi-based Kyzz FM.
“Those who reached the round of 16 were given $15, and i have their money with me currently. We didn’t use cheque, we gave everybody cash.
“The men’s winning prize $3,000 which was for Tomas Setodji was with me, 1st runner-up got $1,500 which belong to Felix Hounkpevi. They met me privately and ask me to keep it for them and when they are ready they will come for it. Tomas then sent a friend and the two came and i gave out the money. Felix also received his money infront of other people.”
