Ghana Black Stars captain,Asamoah Gyan has been honoured a doctorate degree by a Ukrainian University.
The 31 year old Ghanaian forward has been awarded a doctoral degree by the Alfred Noble University, a topmost university in the Ukraine and ranked among the top best in the world for his heroics in terms of his playing career and his philanthropic nature.
Asamoah Gyan, who is now Dr. Asamoah Gyan was awarded this honorary degree and a golden plate when the ceremony took place at the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi-Ghana/
He was joined at the ceremony by his manager, Samuel Annin, his father, friends and siblings as he received this honorary doctorate degree.
Asamoah Gyan who recently netted his 51st international goal is on record to have engaged in philanthropic gestures worth the tune of $210m and is still giving back to the society. He is the leading appearance holder for the Black Stars with 103 appearances.
Gyan, who recently signed for New Kayserispor in the Turkish top flight said when asked about how he felt being honoured, the forward was quick to say;
“I am happy to be gaining this recognition. It shows I am doing well and must continue doing more”.
“I thanked everyone who has helped me reach this far and whose relentless efforts I am receiving this honorary degree”, he added.
Asamoah Gyan has previously indicated that he will retire after playing for Ghanaian Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko and when asked if his view has changed, he nodded saying No.
“I still stand by what i said. I will play for Kotoko before i hang my boots”.
“Kotoko has been my childhood club and have been supporting them since childhood though i started my career at Liberty Professionals”, he continued.
“I will be very happy even if i wear their jersey and retires, he added.
Asamoah Gyan also indicated that he will be at the Baba Yara stadium as Kotoko play host to Medeama SC tomorrow starting 15:00GMT.
