Venus Williams have reached the semi finals of the 2017 Wimbledon after beating Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets.
The five time Wimbledon champion beat the Latvian 6-3 7-5 in one hour and 13 minutes on Centre Court. That was Venus Williams 1000th Singles game and has become the oldest player to reach the semi finals since Martina Navratilova 23 years ago.
Venus, the elder sister of Serena Williams, who is competing at her 20th Wimbledon and looking to win a Grand Slam for the first time since Wimbledon 2008 will now face Johanna Konta or Simona Halep in the semi finals on Thursday.
In other games, Garbine Muguruza from Spain also booked her place in the last four following her stunning 6-3 6-4 victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova in one hour and 15 minutes on Court One.
The Spanish who is coached by the only female tennis player to win the Wimbledon, Conchita Martinez has reached her second Wimbledon semi final and will be hoping to reach the finals on Saturday but have to overcome either Coco Vandeweghe or Magdalena Rybarikova on Thursday.
