Another sad news has hit the sporting fratenity as para-athlete Abdullah Hayayei has died at training.
Hayayei, 36, who is from the United Arab Emirates has died following a training ground incident.
The thrower in the F34 class was training at Newham Leisure Centre ahead of the World Para-athletics Championships in London which will be held in September.
Hayayei was seriously injured sparking an emergency service call at 16:00GMT but was pronounced dead soon after.
Hayayei’s family has been informed so as his teammates who are preparing for the World championships.
Sir Philip Craven, IPC president said: “We are all truly devastated by this tragic news and the passing of Abdullah.”
Hayeyei was due to participate in his second World championship in the shot put, discus and javelin F34 events after making his debut in 2015 at Doha, Qatar where he finished fifth in the discus F34 and eighth in shot put F34.
Rio 2016 was his maiden Olympic Games participation finishing sixth in the javelin F34 and seventh in shot put F34.
