BRITISH GRAND PRIX FIRST PRACTICE: BOTTAS BEAT HAMILTON

Finnish Valtteri Bottas beat Lewis Hamilton in the British Grand Prix first practice with Mercedes setting the pace.

Bottas who won in Austria beat his compatroit with 0.078 seconds as the pair swapped fastest times through the session.

The first practice is a dress rehearsal as the Formula 1 drivers will take to the track on Sunday to race.

Leader of the championship, Sebastian Vettel finished sixth with 1.411secs off Bottas.

Lewis Hamilton had earlier indicated that Sunday’s race is a ‘must-win’ race as he seeks to reduce the 20 point deficit between him and Vettel. Bottas will also like to crawl back into the title race with a win on Sunday as he found himself 35 points behind Vettel in the Championship.
