Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has stated that striker Sergio Aguero will stay at the club amidst reports that Chelsea want the former Atletico player.
The 29 year old is seen as a replacement for out-of-favour Spain forward Diego Costa by Chelsea’s manager, Antonio Conte.
Pep Guardiola whose team will play their city rivals tomorrow said ahead of the game; “He’s our player. He will remain here.”
Aguero who score 20 Premuer League goals last season lost his place to Brazilian Gabriel Jesus sparking his exit.
He also indicated that they are ‘talking to three or four players’ despite signing Benefica’s shot stopper, Ederson Moraes, right-back Kyle Walker and winger Bernardo Silva, plus teenage midfielder Douglas Luiz.
City has been linked with Danilo of Real Madrid and Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco and Guardiola said; “We are talking to three or four players- with the next three, four, five years in mind. They are young players”.
“We have options for players coming, but until the deal is done, out of respect for the other clubs I cannot say anything”, he added.
“Mendy is the same case as Danilo, we have targets and we see what happens. He’s a Monaco player so I’m quiet in my comments”, the Spanish said.
Nigerian Kelechi Ihenacho has been a peripheral figure since Pep Guardiola returned and when asked of the future of he and Wilfried Bony, the Manchester City manager said; “Kelechi’s a young player. It’s not easy for him”, he added.
“He needs to play at that age and that’s why he and the club decided it was best for him to leave.”
Guardiola said Bony had “a little problem” and the 26-year-old would have travelled “if he wasn’t injured”.
