Reports breaking on the desk of GhanaMansports.com have it that World governing football body, FIFA has reprimanded the Irish pair of Martin O’Neill and James McClean for comments made against Spanish referee David Fernandez Borbalan.
Martin O’Neill is the Republic of Ireland head coach and James McClean is a player for PL side WestBromich Albion and a full Irish international.
Both are reprimanded for the comments made against the match official in their game against Austria when the two sides played a 1-1 draw in the 2018 World Cup qualifier in Dublin.
O’Neill described the match official as ‘poor’ after he disallowed them a late goal and turned several penalty appeal down with McClean also adding to it that he is “Austria’s 12th man”.
FIFA has written to the Football Association of Ireland that they have reprimanded the two for unsporting behaviour of which the FA has accepted.
Ireland remain unbeaten in UEFA’s World Cup qualifying Group D with 12 points; level on points with group leaders, Serbia after six round of games and will take on Georgia in September before playing Serbia three days after.
