Persib Bandung fan has died in a post match brawl in Indonesia after their match against rivals, Persija Jakarta on Saturday.
Richo Andrean, a die hard fan of Persib Bandung was mistaken to be a fan of Persija Jakarta when the two sides’ fans engaged in a fight after their 1-1 draw in Bandung on Saturday.
Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta is tagged the Indonesian version of El Clasico and history have it there have been bloody and deadly clashes in the past when this fixture is played.
The police said the 22 year old was heavily beaten and was taken to the hospital. The examination on him revealed he has suffered severe injuries to the head and chest and was receiving treatment.
“He tried to stop a fight but he was attacked,” Bandung police chief Hendro Pandowo said.
But despite all efforts to bring the 22 year old die hard fan of Persib Bandung back to full health, it was reported yesterday that he has passed on.
Persib Bandung has paid tribute to Richo via Facebook with the Indonesian FA also releasing a statement in support of the 22 year old.
Ghanaian international, Michael Essien who plays for Persib Bandung and his teammate, Carlton Cole have also paid tribute to Richo with a video showing him standing in front of a crowd.
