The 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup host, India has toured 10-12 countries says Indian Sports Minister, Vijay Goel.
India has been handed the hosting rights of the U17 World Cup and to make the nation proud by reaching the latter stages of the competition, the Sports Minister has indicated that they have toured at least 10 countries to get some exposure for the event.
He described Indian U17 team as a ‘dark horse’ but lamented that they are ready to host the tournament and will work harder for the flagship event which will see Indaia host for the event for the first time.
In a meeting with the team at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Vijay Goel said; “The U17 team looks ready for the tournament”.
“Their preparation has been on the right track. They already toured 10-12 countries in the run up to the event”, he added.
“They will prove dark horse in the tournament”, he concluded.
India are the host for the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup which runs from October 6 to 28, 2017 and are paired with Colombia, Ghana and USA in Group A.
