The Central Regional Football Association Chairman M.N.S Doe has called on the Ghana Football Association’s Vice President, George Afriyie to resign from his position after the recent rift between him and his boss.
He also likened the situation between the pair to that of Kenya’s political history.
There was a media report of George Afriyie telling his president of being “wicked, selfish and greedy” with the pair’s feud reported to have been settled by the Sports Minister.
But the outspoken Central RFA Chairman told Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports; “I don’t think George Afriyie should occupy that (Veep) position again after that text message. He must do the honourable thing by resigning”.
“Even if the alledged text message George sent to Nyantakyi is true, at least he should have reported Nyantakyi’s conduct first to the EXCO but he didn’t”, he added.
“Do you think he’ll feel comfortable around Nyantakyi even if they resolve their differences?”, M.N.S Doe was quick to ask.
He continued by saying; “This is exactly what happened between (Jomo) Kenyatta and (Jaramogi) Odinga and in the end Odinga resigned because he couldn’t cope”.
He further stated; “Odinga even consulted cabinet before tending in his resignation but with Afriyie “NO’.
“Hence I think he has no business occupying that position. He can resign as Veep but still work as an executive committee member”, he concluded.
