Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, President of Ghana Football Association has stated that Ghana’s Black Stars have slim chance of qualification for FIFA World Cup 2018.
He said this when he was speaking to the media in Kumasi at the official launch of the National Sports Festival 2017.
The FA Chief, explained thus ” we had the brightest chance to increase our chances of qualification but blew it when we failed to beat Congo last Friday”.
He continued by saying that”I can’t rule out Ghana completely but our destiny is no longer in our hands. We have now got a slim chance to qualify”.
“Our chance is diminishing but anything can happen in football”, he emphasized.
Ghana drew one all with the Red Devils of Congo in Kumasi last Friday and now have two points from three matches which puts them on third position behind Uganda with seven points and Egypt at second with six points.
The Cranes of Uganda will be playing the Pharaohs of Egypt in Alexandria after beating them 1-0 in Kampala last Thursday.
A draw in the said game in Egypt will give the Black Stars of Ghana a life line for the qualification.
Mr Nyanktakyi, who as GFA boss supervised Ghana’s three World Cup appearances in 2006, 2010 and 2014 said he had all but given up hopes of a fourth consecutive campaign in Russia next year.
