Maxwell Konadu, Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars ‘B’ has promised to ensure his team performance better than what Ghanaians saw in the CHAN qualifiers.
Ghana lost 2-1 at home to Burkina Faso in the qualifiers for the Championship of African Nations to be staged in Kenya.
The Ghanaian local side managed by Maxwell Konadu had drew 2-2 with the Burkinabes and the home fans had the hope of qualifying especially when they were playing at the famous Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi but only to witness a nightmare of performance from their local Stars.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Coach Maxwell Konadu explained the rationale behind his team selection” We never liked the idea of presenting eighteen players for the WAFU tournament, our hands have been tied at our back so we had to select players who can play more than one position”.
“It is not good for us because we over use the players and they will be exhausted to play for their clubs after the tournament”,Konadu lamented.
On the First Match Against Gambia
Ghana will play The Gambia in the first match of the WAFU tournament on Saturday at 3:00 pm and Coack Maxwell explained their readiness to perform better to appease the Ghanaian fans.
“Everyone is under pressure because of our inability to qualify for the CHAN tournament, we know what this match means to us, who ever gets the nod will make sure we come out victorious”, but we have to calm the players down not to be too anxious”. He said.
” The players are eager to win the first game against Gambia but we have to be cautious not to be over confident, our aim is to qualify for the next round. We have to do something different, we cannot fail Ghanaians”. Konadu conluded.
