James Kwasi Appiah, Coach of the Senior National team, Black Stars has assured players that his net is wide opened for further call ups. Kwasi Appiah has given opportunities to some new players who have also proven their worth.
He spoke to the media after Ghana beat Saudi Arabia 3-0 in a friendly match on Tuesday night.
He explained that ” the first criteria for every player is to play well and the earn a call up, the fact that a player has not been called and is playing well does not mean he will not be ever get a call up”.
” I have already said that it is the best thing to do when competition is created for players to give up their best and also if we continue to rely on the same old players for the National team, then what will the future be for us “, He continued.
Coach Appiah went on to emphasize that ” I am happy these new players have given us such a good performance, it will help us very well in the new project of building a formidable team for the future”.
The Black Stars trainer was making reference to the point of his new charges who helped win 3-0 against the Arabians in Riyadh.
New players like Goal keeper Lawrence Zigi got his first chance to keep the post for the Stars. Swiss based Kasim Nuhu was on the score sheet as he also made his maiden appearance.
Raphael Dwamena, Ebenezer Ofori, Alfred Duncan have all proved to be very good players for the Stars in recent days when they were given the chance respectively.Thomas Agyapong and Lumor Agbenyenu Suleyman have also given other players like Wakaso, Agyemang Badu and Baba Rahman some headaches as they now have to fight their way back into the team.
Thomas Teye Partey has also exhibited his talent remembering Ghanaians of the good days of Micheal Essien in the midfield for the Black Stars as he earns a starting place for the Stars. He has scored five goals in his last four games with two assists.
Ghana failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup but would be using this opportunity to prepare for the AFCON 2019 which there would be much expectancy for them to win.
