WE CHANGED THE HEARTS – KOTOKO KICKOFF TIME BECAUSE OF SECURITY CONCERNS : DEPUTY SPORTS MINISTER

Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports has called for cooperation from all stakeholders in the wake of changes made for the kickoff time of the MTN FA Cup final.

The Deputy Minister spoke to Boss Sports in Kumasi on Friday ahead of the clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Hon. Pius Hadzide explained thus “A meeting was held to look at the dimensions of this match”.

“This change of time was taken for security reasons to protect life and properties. The decision was taken not to create any inconveniences for anyone but to produce a serene atmosphere for all”. He said.

The Deputy Sports Minister continued by giving clarity on how his outfit communicated to the Ghana Football Association and MTN FA Cup Committee, “A letter was signed and issued by myself on Thursday but the decision had been made earlier on Tuesday. Preparations will start at 2pm and kickoff will be 3pm.”

He also reacted to media reports that the Sports Ministry took the decision because of the Okudjato Commission’s Report that matches between Kotoko and Hearts be should not be played in the evening but rather afternoon.
“The decision was taken not in reference to the Okudjato Commission report, as been puddled around but it’s because of the particular situation now at the match venue.
One of the matches between these two clubs was played at a late hour earlier this year as the relative atmosphere was different”.

Pius emphasised that he and his boss are not aware of the fact that Coach of Ghana’s U -17 team, Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabian has not received his salary for almost 24 months.
“We are not yet aware of Paa Kwesi’s unpaid salaries, it’s has not yet gotten to our tables first, I am very sure my boss is not even aware.
We came to meet him working so if there is anything like that, it has not gotten to us yet. When it is brought to us, we shall see what we can do, He concluded.
