Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan is likely to miss the World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday after picking up injury during the team’s training on Tuesday evening.
The Black Stars skipper who trained separately on Monday during the opening session of the training towards the World Cup qualifier limped off the training grounds and could not continue the training.
Ghana Black Stars continued their training session at the Cape Coast Stadium on Tuesday with all players present though Patrick Twumasi and Harris Afful arrived late.
Gyan spoke to the media on Tuesday evening after their final training session for the day and explained thus “yes I am injured, I cannot give the extent of the injury but for now I am feeling pains alright, it might serious, it might not be serious but I shall go for the scan first thing tomorrow morning to confirm the extent of the injury.” The Turkey based striker said.
Newcastle winger, Christain Atsu also sat out of training and is also due to undergo further tests to determine his availability for the game on Sunday. Atsu got injured after playing for his club on Saturday against Bournemouth in the English Premier League.
Ghana is preparing feverishly for the last round of matches in Group E which happens to be the closure for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Unfortunately, the Egyptians have already qualified ahead of time and that makes the match a little meaningless.
Though both sides are taking it seriously to protect their pride and reputation as well as improvement on the FIFA rankings.
