Ghana’s Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Asiamah has stated that the cost of accommodation for former Black Stars coach Avram Grant was $192000 and $ 4000 per month. This was what the Ministry of Sports paid for during the two years tenure of the Israeli born coach.
The Sports Minister made these revelations during the National Sports Fund Consultation Forum in Accra on Wednesday, Honourable Asiamah, in his keynote address made it clear that Ghana had been spending $8,000 (equivalent to GHC 36,000) every month on accommodation for the former Chelsea coach.
The MP for Atwima Mponua explained this relative to the rationale behind the recent provision of an official residence for the current Black Stars Coach, James Kwasi Appiah.
MINISTRY OF SPORTS ACQUIRE A PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR BLACK STAR COACH, KWASI APPIAH
“When I realised that we’re spending $8000 a month on accommodation for Black Stars coaches, I was overwhelmed, hence our decision to acquire an official residence for the national team coach to save the country the huge amount we have been pumping in,” Isaac Asiamah told the press.
This means the Sports Ministry spent a total of GHC864,000 ($192000) on accommodation alone for former Ghana coach Avram Grant who lived in a hotel for his entire two-year stay in the country.
Grant took Ghana to second place against Ivory Coast in the 2015 AFCON and 4th place in 2017.
