Former striker of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Prince “Polley” Opoku has identified why three different players of Kotoko failed to score three penalties in their CAF Confederation’s cup .
The Porcupine Warriors played host to CARA Brazzaville on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium , striker Saddick Adams, Captain Amos Frimpong and winger Baba Mahama all failed to score from the spot to ensure Kotoko get into the second leg with much advantage.
Prince Polley explained thus, ” the boys were under pressure because they really wanted to win for the supporters and that’s how come they messed up all the penalties that were awarded by the referee” he said in an interview with Boss FM.
“They did not really prepare for the penalty kicks because they never expected it to come like it happened” Polley continued.
On the penalties awarded by Senegalese Referee Sey, Prince said ” all the penalties were legitimate and the referee got them all correct but it’s only the third penalty that I have a problem with, it was a little harsh.
Polley went on to advice coach Steven Pollack on how to approach the second leg to be played next week in Brazzaville, ” On the second leg, it will surely be a great thing if coach Pollack alters his tactics and play two strikers, but in a whole I think Kotoko have good players who can still qualify the team to the next stage”, he concluded
