Mr. Ibrahim Sannie Daara The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, has debunked claims of bribery allegations being leveled against the country’s football governing body.
According to him, if indeed the officials of the FA were corrupt, they would have been jailed by now if the damaging reports filed by some journalists were anything to go by. These allegations were intensified after the 2014 FIFA World Cup where some controversies broke out on bonuses and allowances.
Over the years, The Executive Committee of the Ghana FA has been tagged with various degrees of corruption in the public but have not been found guilty by any competent court. In an interview with Angel TV’s Esther Abankwa during a sports show dubbed ‘the Turf’ on Saturday, Sannie Daara insisted the FA isn’t corrupt and there is no money being squandered as being reported by some journalists.
‘If we were corrupt, we would have all been jailed by now. We have allowed people to wrongly inform the public and we have ourselves to blame. If we had dealt with journalists who tag us as corrupt all this while, they would have learnt their lessons,’ he said
Sannie however, noted the FA is now burnt on dealing with rogue sports journalists in the country who have been damaging its hard-fought reputation in recent times.
“If we had dealt with such rogue journalists,it would have gotten to this stage. I would blame us. If we had acted, it would not get to this stage, he added.
The former BBC sports journalist further revealed that the FA also has some other journalists it would deal with once it finishes with the legal battle with Country Man Songo.
“Let me add this, once we finish,we have some other journalists to deal with. They are Abartey and Atinka FM,One Man Supporter and Sports Obama” Sannie concluded.
