The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has constituted a seven member committee to meet the Minister of Youth and Sports on recent happenings at the Ghana Football Association. The GFA took a similar move by appointing a five member committee to foresee the restructuring of football system after the bribery and corruption debacle but it was curbed by the government.
In order to find the best and lasting solution to the biggest challenge that has befallen the GFA now, GHALCA at its emergency meeting on Monday evening has named seven able men to meet the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah, how to deal with the problems without implementing dissolution of the association.
The Committee comprises; Mr. Cudjoe Fianoo the GHALCA Chairman, Mr. George Afriyie, recently sacked GFA Vice President, Lawyer Kweku Eyiah, one of the two men who resisted the bribe from the Tiger Eye Group and Nana Brew Butler, former Chairman for the GFA. The rest are Carl Wilson, George Amoako and Mr. Kuffour.
The Ghana Football fraternity has been rocked with embarrassing allegations of bribery and corruption as revealed by the Investigative journalist; Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his number 12 video; Ghana Football Expose. in the video, a chunk of referees and some match commissioners are seen taking bribes to influence the results of league games, Executive Members of the GFA are also caught taking bribes as well as authorities of the National Sports Authority.
The crescendo of the tape is when the immediate past President of the Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi was seen using the name of the President Akuffo- Addo, his vice and other government officials to secure contracts from investors.
In order to curb the menace, The NPP Government has initiated steps to dissolve the Association and do the necessary house clean to make football real in Ghana.
GHALCA has now put together this team who would meet the Sports Minister to dialogue on how best football in the country can be saved from further fall.
