Ghana’s Under 20 male side awoke themselves from their slumber when they came back from a goal down to beat Benin 3-1.
The Black Satellites beat their counterparts from Benin in the qualifiers for the African U-20. The match was played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Allagbani Saliou put his side in in front in a counter attack which left Satellites goalkeeper helpless. Benin’s side held unto the lead after frustrating the Ghanaians from getting a goal.
Back from recess and Ghana coach Jimmy Cobblah made his first substitution replacing Agyei Boakye with Elvis Kyei Baffour who injected some life into the attack of the Ghanaians.
They eventually did get their goal in the 59th minute when Richard Danso shot beat the agile Benin goalkeeper, Abiola Katchon who had a wonderful game.
Ghana’s Captain Issaku Konda made it two in the 72nd minute after poncing on a loose ball.
The Ghanaian side got their third goal in the 84th minute when Danso hit his second of the afternoon to seal the victory and to ensure Ghana gets a two lead ahead of second leg.
Benin will host Ghana in Cotonou next week for the second-leg to decide which side will advance to the next round of the qualifiers.
