Cape Coast based Mfantsipim School became the champions in the Sprite Ball 2018/19 after beating West African Senior High School (WASS) in the final.
The mouth watering encounter was played at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday. Mfantsipim won by 35-16 baskets.
The win ends Mfantsipim’s bad record of loosing conscutively in the finals of Ghana’s biggest high school basketball championship for Boys Division.
The Botwe boys also made the good record of winning their fifth title in the competition after winning the last one in 2015.
Mfantsipim beat Osu Presec in the semi-finals on the same day whereas WASS brushed aside Opoku Ware School in the other semi-finals.
Opoku Ware School clinched bronze after securing a 35-16 win over 2018 Champions Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC).
Thanks to Owusu’s heroics and finishing from the likes of Nigel Quaynor, Mfantsipim had its record extending fifth Sprite Ball title wrapped up long before the blast of the whistle.
Owusu was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
