South Africa break Egyptian Hearts in Cairo

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa gave the Pharaohs of Egypt the biggest shock in their African Cup history when they pipped them by a goal to nil.

The African Cup of Nations entered the knockout stages on Friday and some shocking results have been witnessed so far.

Egypt who are the host were tipped to go through to the quarter finals ahead of South Africa.

The two former winners met at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

The Pharaohs fell to an 85th minute strike by Thembinkosi Lorch. Both sides created numerous goal scoring opportunities but failed to convert into any tangible outcome.

Egypt tried with all their might to equalise but the Bafana Bafana boys were too strong to break down.

Egypt won the competition in 2006 when they hosted it and then went on to win it in 2008 and 2010 to increase their titles to a record seven in Africa.
